Floating

I was lucky enough to watch this bald eagle for several hours as it followed a family of otters down a river in Yellowstone National Park

Grace

Eagles are very powerful flyers. I love the forward motion of the wings, indicating speed and power.

American Icon

The posture of this eagle shows why it is the USA's national bird.

Flight

This eagle flew by one crisp morning in Yellowstone.

Skagit River Eagle

This eagle flew by while I was on the shore of the Skagit River, a place where hundreds of eagles gather every winter to feast on salmon.

A Tribute to the Endangered Species Act

At one point bald eagles were so endangered there was concern our national symbol would become extinct. Thanks to the protections provided by the Endangered Species Act this icon has rebounded to a healthy number of birds.

Frosty Golden

This Golden Eagle had just finished breakfast - a Barrow's Goldeneye it had taken off the Lamar River in Yellowstone.

Juvenile Bald Eagle

This is a first year Bald Eagle along the Skagit River.

A very well groomed eagle

This eagle was looking for lunch on Whidbey Island in Washington state.
