Breakfast in the Park
I was lucky enough to come across this peregrine falcon dining on an American Widgeon in Oak Harbor on December 31st, 2006. |
Flying Feathers
He kept hopping around with the duck and the feathers would fly. |
Hopping Around
Didn't his mother tell him not to play with his food. |
The Feather
He had a feather stuck in his beak - he kept shaking his head to try and free it. :) |
Lethal Embrace
He appears to be embracing his prey. |
Power Stance
I wouldn't mess with this bird... Would you? |
Gag, duck feet again!!!
He successfully swallowed this duck foot. Yuck. ;) |
Headed Out
Finished with his meal, the falcon prepares to leave the area. |
The aftermath
There wasn't much left of this bird but the ID was easy. |

Nature being nature
This is a serene image of a violent act. Hey, falcons have to eat too.... |
